Top 4 Songs From Boy Bands Who Became Man Bands

Top 4 Songs From Boy Bands Who Became Man Bands

We all grow up at some point, but what happens when the boy bands that we used to listen to all the time grow up? Of course bands come and go, some split up never to join back up again, some drop in popularity and vanish into obscurity. Below is a list of some of the boy bands that we know and love that came back together after a split and reunion or two. Furthermore we’re only going to be covering the music from those particular bands.

Backstreet Boys “Permanent Stain” (2013)

Permanent Stain

Even though the Backstreet Boys have come back at this point, they did have a reunion in 2013 and released some songs. From them came Permanent Stain, a song that gave off some 90s vibes. Those vibes made some serious callbacks to the Backstreet’s hits during that decade with synths, bells, and of course their amazing vocals. At the same time there were some old school vibes, there was some newness to it as the Backstreet Boys never sounded like they sound in this song.

All in all this song provides both a flashback but also showed a sort of alternate-timeline where the band followed the cues of bands from 2 Unlimited.

The Jacksons, “Torture” (1984)

The Jacksons

Let’s go back to 1982 for this one. It was around this time that Michael Jackson became a massive pop star thanks to his blockbuster hit Thriller. After that success, he rejoined his two brothers for both an album and tour, returning to the roots where he first made a name for himself. Both experiences were disasters behind the scenes, however there was a lot of success overall from the songs played and the tour itself. Most notably was the synth-funk vibes of “Torture” that followed the lead single “State of Shock” which both hit the top 20s of the Billboard Hot 100’s during the time. Between those two, “Torture” remains the most notable hit.

New Kids on the Block, “Remix (I Like The)” (2013)

New Kids on the Block

NKOTB’s ode to an upgraded girl in this song also served as an ode to the band’s volume 2 revival. Although this song didn’t quite make it to the Top 40, however the song is still worthy of praise considering what the band has gone through. This song in particular prompted the band to throw away the teen-pop anthems they used so much and went for a rawer adult pop-soul, sprinkled with EDM too just to make it suitable for radio at the time.

Take That, “Shine” (2006)

Take That

Although their “Back for Good”-era cameo on US charts won’t ever be replicated again, Take That pretty much picked the best time to pick up where they left off about a decade ago. They’re comeback came in the form of two singles topping charts in the UK in 2006’s album Beautiful World. Between the two songs, the one that sticks out the most is “Shine”. It gives off all sorts of vibes that remind us of “Hey Jude” from The Beatles. Paired with some chorus that also makes a callback to some of Lily Allen’s work in “Who’d Have Known?” this song is an interesting one.

5 Facts We Bet You Didn’t Know About the Backstreet Boys

5 Facts We Bet You Didn’t Know About the Backstreet Boys

The Backstreet Boys were one of the largest boy bands back in the day and since their revival from the surge of new boy bands, people are still talking about them. But despite their massive popularity as a band, there may be some little tidbits you didn’t know about the band.

Below is a short list of some interesting facts we bet you didn’t know about the group and the individual artists: Brian, Nick, Kevin, Howie, and AJ.

Ryan Gosling Was A Member

Ryan Gosling

The group made it’s official debut and name back in 1993, however before the band was formed, AJ Mclean invited Ryan Gosling to the group in 1992. During the time, AJ was living in the same building as Gosling but also with singers Justing Timberlake and Britney Spears. He regularly shot hoops with Ryan and at one point AJ invited Gosling into the band. All Ryan did was nod.

The Band Was Scammed

During the beginning of the band’s career, life was very difficult. Their efforts at playing in stadiums gave them barely enough to pay for living expenses. Little did they know that they were actually being scammed by their manager at the time, Lou Pearlman. At the time, Pearlman managed the teenage boy band, they would play at stadiums and earn roughly $100 or less. Pearlman was later caught up in an illegal ponzi scheme that he had been running for 25 years, freeing the band and allowing them to flourish.

AJ Mclean Wasn’t So Clean

AJ Mclean

It’s no surprise that at various periods, some band members run into drug problems. We’ve seen it all before where some members go to rehab to help sort out the issues. Oddly enough The Backstreet Boys are actually one of the cleanest band in pop music. Up until the early 2000s, not one of the members had to go to rehab or even dipped in drugs.

All of that changed once AJ got his first dose of cocaine around the time that the band was at the peak of their fame. By that point, AJ was already dabbling a little, however it took a bad turn when they filmed “The Call”. For AJ’s part in particular, his shot wasn’t set up until 3:30am so his friend suggested to try some cocaine to help him perk up. When AJ got to the set, he was visibly high. This might explain why he had the sunglasses on in the music video.

From that experience though, AJ developed an addiction towards the drug, eventually getting into rehab by 2001. AJ did come back again in 2002 when Kevin Richardson did an intervention.

The Band Watched Porn Together

When Lou Pearlman was their manager, the band often went to his house to not play video games or shoot some hoops, but to watch porn. On a regular basis they would watch porn after finding Pearlman’s stach of porn movies. This was apparently the first time Howie has seen two women kissing each other.

Kevin’s Life Before The Band

Of course each member had a thing they were doing before the band. For Kevin, he would use his vocal talents by dressing up and performing as Aladdin at the Disney World theme park. He also did work on the side as a model for Versace.
